Digital Economy Live is structured around four interconnected ‘Live Stages’ — dedicated tracks running across the three conference days, bringing together the public institutions and private sector companies building that dimension of Africa's digital economy.
Each stage pairs the regulators and public institutions responsible for that layer of digital governance with the technology companies, operators and investors building it — from the fibre in the ground to the cloud strategy running the government backbone.
Broadband connectivity, fibre networks, data centres, cloud platforms, last-mile rural connectivity, satellite internet, mobile tower infrastructure, and the government backbone networks that make digital public services possible.
Africa's fintech ecosystem is the world's fastest-growing. Mobile money moved more than $1 trillion annually. PAPSS is live. CBDCs are in pilot. Digital lending, insurtech, wealthtech, regtech, and open banking are reshaping financial services across the continent.
As Tanzania connects 800 institutions to GovNet, Kenya puts 25,000 services online, and Ethiopia enrols 24 million citizens in a biometric identity system, the attack surface of African digital government expands dramatically. Ransomware attacks on government systems, electoral infrastructure breaches, financial sector cyber incidents, and critical national infrastructure vulnerabilities are the fastest-growing digital governance risk on the continent. This stage brings National Computer Emergency Response Team directors, cybersecurity regulatory authority heads, data protection commissioners, and the cybersecurity technology companies, threat intelligence platforms, identity verification providers, and digital trust architects who protect what government builds.
Cloud adoption is the single most consequential infrastructure decision a government makes in its digital transformation journey. Government cloud strategies — sovereign cloud, hybrid cloud, multi-cloud — determine whether citizen data is secure, whether digital services are reliable, whether procurement savings are real, and whether digital transformation delivers or disappoints.
Four dedicated Live Stages running across all three conference days — Digital Infrastructure, Fintech & Banking Innovation, Cybersecurity & Digital Trust, and Cloud Technology & Digital Transformation.
National CERT directors, cybersecurity and data protection regulators, digital infrastructure and telecoms leaders, fintech and banking innovators, and government cloud and digital transformation leads.
